Solo Music LPK-1JR Guitar Kit
A few years back, I purchased this Solo LPK-1JR Electric Guitar Kit from solomusicgear.com. I needed a few pre-built guitars to test my new (at the time) spray booth on as I didn’t have any of my own custom builds ready for spraying. The kit came very fast and seemed to be of really great quality. I did a quick test fit with all of the components and everything lined up perfectly.
Although the kit was very nice for the price, I wanted to do a few upgrades and tweaks to it. The hardware that came with the kit were very low-decent quality, which makes sense for this price point. I’d rather have the parts be low quality vs. the wood, fit, or finish. You can always replace parts, but you really can’t replace wood without making the kit not worth it money and time wise.
Here is a list of specs and upgrades I did to the build:
Finished with 2k Polyurethane from UreChem in color Peach.
Kept the neck to a matte-satin sheen for playability.
Replaced the nickel frets with Jescar 47104-S stainless steel jumbo frets.
Replaced the bridge with a StewMac Golden Age Low-profile Wraparound Bridge for more adjustability.
Replaced the stock plastic nut with a Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL Nut.
Upgraded to Tone Ninja locking tuners.
I love how this build turned out! The guitar plays and feels great. In the future, I might replace the electronics, but I think they sound decent for what they are. Thanks for looking and I’ll see you next time!
